Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is a simple and empowering technique that I teach my clients so they are equipped to confidently use at home for self-help. It is a powerful therapy which can dramatically help reduce anxiety.
What Is EFT?
EFT is a form of energy psychology and works on the same principals as acupuncture working with the meridians (energy pathways in the body) without the use of needles. When energy is blocked and the natural flow of energy is disrupted you can experience mental and even physical pain.
The meridians or pressure points are gently tapped with the client’s fingers while they focus on the negative emotions they wish to release, to settle energy disturbances in the meridians and thereby relieving emotional turmoil. As you tap and the energy settles, the level of emotion reduces, relieving psychological stress & physical discomfort.
EFT is very powerful and can help to relieve the emotional content of physical problems and I frequently use this “tapping” technique in my therapy sessions. Strong emotions such as fear, anger, shame and sadness dissolve into clear thinking, enabling a fresh view and the ability to move forwards and get on with life. It’s highly successful at eliminating fears or phobias and releasing trauma. It helps transform negative thoughts and habits while rewiring the brain.
According to Gary Craig, the founder of EFT “the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” By tapping on a series of acupressure points, EFT helps to balance the body’s energy system and restore the positive flow.
EFT and Hypnotherapy complement each other because once the negative charge has been eliminated, then positive suggestions can be powerfully reinforced using hypnotherapy.
